New Year New Food

Well we've ended up gaining about 20# since school started, the weather got colder,  & we just got busier in general!  So for Christmas Bella and I got Brad a 1000watt Bella juicer at Sam's Club..... with the promise that I would try the juice diet.... An idea he fell in love with from the documentary "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead"

Breakfast this morning has consisted of 2 8oz glasses of juice.

Here is the recipe for the first one:
Kale
Cucumber
Celery
Green Apples
Pineapple
And Lemon

The second batch we were almost out of kale and totally out of cucumber...

Here's what went in:
Kale
Pineapple
Carrot
Spinach
Green Apples
Celery
Lemon
And Ginger

Our Little Cyclist!

Tonight Bella went almost 11 miles on her bike! Daddy even had her training wheels up a little higher.... She crashed 2 times but jumped right up and got back on her bike! The other day she came in from outside and said, "I can do all the stuff Daddy does on his bike.  I can ride like this (puts one hand on her hip), I can ride no hands, and I can scrunch down (bends down in race position)."  It was really cute!  Here are some pics from our ride today!

Pretty plants next to the trail....

The ponies!  We go by them every Sunday.... Today we stopped on our ride to say Hello!

Brad being tricky.....

My husband representing Phat Tire... :)

I get this look a lot from him!

The Mommy Mobile!

The best way to get Rick's Donuts.... by bike!  Biking across town, hauling my hiney up the huge hill, and facing traffic on College, we more than deserved it!  After breakfast we went to Highroller to buy a new water bottle.... My other one mysteriously vanished somewhere near Hogeye last weekend.... Then we headed home.... Just before Wilson Park we switched Bella's trailer to my bike!  I've never pulled her with my road bike.... It is a weird experience!  Very springy, heavy, and the wind resistance!  But I did it!  The most fun was passing other bikers on the trail :)..... Not only was I doing it, I was doing it a tiny bit faster than someone else.... Cycling makes me feel a little bit competitive.... The Strava app (for iphone or android) doesn't help matters!

See you on the trail!

DNF'd "Did Not Finish"

Sunday, I was determined to get 60-75 miles of training in.... After a mile long 7% grade climb up to the 540 ramp I almost threw up.... From that point I wanted to quit cycling, lay in the road, and divorce my husband.... My husband always tells our 5 year old that whining makes things harder.... It's true.... but after 55 miles I quit going.... Not knowing the route and how much further we had to go just sapped my will....  I ended up hanging out at the Greenland McDonalds with Bella while Brad trekked back to the car........

Adventures in climbing.....

Yesterday we started out with our Beginners ride..... We've added a couple new people.... There was a really sweet guy from FAC there.... He waited 6 weeks for his bike!  A cool lime green number, definitely worth the wait!  Desiny was also back... YAY ladies!

After breakfast though we headed out on our own...... I wanted to get between 60-75 miles.... but I didn't plan a very good route.... We headed south to West Fork.... Then up a horrendous climb..... On to part of the Tour de Cure route, to Hogeye, then to Greenland...... After the climb everything started to go sour for me.... My back and shoulders started cramping..... I wanted to throw up and pass out..... My head was pounding..... I cried... I gave up cycling forever...... We stopped at a funky little church for water..... Brad said he felt like he was leaving Waco.... >.<  The best part of the trip was finding two little turtles.....

The first one we found near Drake Field..... His name is Bumpy..... The second was after the climb.... His name is Smoothie.....

These are the pics of our habitat making today..... It was a lot of fun.....

Looking forward to Sunday

I love Sundays..... We get up early and head to Phat Tire.... We're part of a great group of cyclists from the shop.... Every Sunday is their beginners ride.... A No-Drop group ride that heads out from Fayetteville Phat Tire, out to the "rollers", then to breakfast downtown..... Now for some key terms... Remember those in school :).... No-Drop means no cyclist left behind..... If you're having a hard time, just learning to ride your bike, have a new bike, or even a flat some or all of the group will stick with you!  Rollers are sweeping hills..... Just the right amount of climbing and downhills to keep you working and having fun...

Tomorrow is a big training day for me.... Why, because I said so! lol.... So after breakfast Brad, Bella, & I are going to add some more miles to the trek..... I'm hoping to get in 60-75 tomorrow..... I've got to know that I can do 100 in just over a month!

Here's a great blog I've been following.... She's recently taken up cycling too.... http://www.thinfluenced.com/

See you on the road!
